I love this. It feels like shifting your time preference in action. I’ve been doing a lot of these things without consciously realizing it, especially the emphasis on action. I tell my siblings and friends all the time that if you have something hard in front of you, take one small step. You can stop after five minutes, but you have to start, and most of the time you will go further than you thought you would. I have some big focus areas right now like school, social media, networking, and building community that aligns with my interests in economics, self-sovereignty, and similar ideas. I already have a great family community, but I want to connect with people who share my interests and want to figure out how our world works and how we can make it better. Thanks for this piece, it was a great read, and I am looking forward to the next one.
“…but I want to connect with people who share my interests and want to figure out how our world works and how we can make it better.”
I’ve seldom in my life found a statement I resonate with so deeply. And it’s so nice to find someone who shares the same desire that burns in my own chest.
You know, it’s sad to me that probably half my graduating class, maybe more, never outgrew our rural hometown. This is not me bagging on small towns, but rather lamenting most people never take the opportunity to grow beyond a certain bubble of comfort and familiarity. I’d 100% live in a small town again under the right conditions.
Anyway, I digress. My point is that it’s rare to find someone with my same desire for growth and thirst for knowledge, and heart for changing things for the better. I can count on one hand the times in my life when I could honestly say I found a kindred spirit.

Love small towns. I live in one now, but they no longer have to isolate us. We live in pretty cool times, even if we see the broken parts.
